Introducing our latest renovation project, the Zafra Home

OH THE Zafra HOME!

This is the 1925 Four-Square colonial we purchased a few years ago that needed A LOT of TLC.
The previous owners definitely had a cohesive sense of style but it was a far, far, like universes far of a difference from my own personal sense of style. This house was chock-full of wallpaper layered over time with frame marks left from grime on the walls. They probably hadn’t seen a paintbrush in years.

So as a designer, my mind is racing.

Where can I take this? Where do I begin? Do my own tastes mesh with a COLONIAL house? (Reminder: I’m also Puerto Rican and have a definite flair for color and the tropics). ALSO- SO. MANY. ROOMS! I also have children to think about. How do I make their rooms not so kiddy? Will our budget stretch far enough?

I’ll be taking you through my design journey, from layouts to choices and execution. It hasn’t all been pretty. I’ve learned some lessons along the way and share tips and tricks too!

Have you bought a house recently you wanted to decorate? Are you completely at a loss of where to start?
